The graphic design industry is cutthroat

GRAPHIC DESIGNER 2 (flips Facebook logo around) Do you think this is a goddamn joke?

here’s the lowdown:
Sharks are over 420,000,000 years old.
That’s older than flowering plants, older than trees, 200,000,000 years older than dinosaurs, almost older than vertebrates or animal life on land, and far, far, far older than anything even remotely resembling a mammal.
They’ve survived three ice ages and the rise and fall of the great aquatic invertebrates, the primitive reptiles, the dinosaurs, the warm-water whales, and the mammalian megafauna that came just before us.
They’ve survived virtually unchanged since the dawn of vertebrate life, too. If you found a picture of a primitive shark and showed it to someone who knew nothing about marine life, they’d go “oh, yeah, that’s a weird-looking shark”.
And they are headed for extinction some time in the next century if we continue killing them at this rate. There is still hope, the numbers are lowering more slowly and there are increasing populations in well-managed fisheries, but the four-hundred-and-twenty-million-year-old tops of our food chains are dying out for no other reason than because killing them is profitable.
Spread the word, everyone. Education is the key to getting shark finning banned, to pushing (or forcing) methods of fishing that reduce bycatch, and to convincing people that sharks are not monsters.
Okay, new rule: if you regularly consume the blood and flesh of a demigod in a room full of chanting elders you’re not allowed to call other religions primitive and evil
This is oddly specific and leaves some very interesting questions unanswered.
Catholicism sure does sound weird when you put it that way.
Jesus is technically the incarnation of God but close enough.
Say what you will about the Ewoks but they’re the only people in the galaxy who have handrails on their bridges and stairs.
The Empire calls them primitives but the Ewoks have OSHA regulations and the Empire doesn’t so who’s really more primitive here?
My local bookshop has a witchcraft & divination section and I love that that exists.
prehistoric burials make me really emotional because people go “it’s natural to only think of yourself to get ahead! people who don’t do anything shouldn’t be a part of society! back in caveman days they would have died!”
but there is archaeological proof that this is wrong. That even at our most “primitive” we cared about the well being of others.
like Shanindar 1. Shanindar 1 is a neanderthal from 35,000 to 45,000 years ago who was buried with many others in Shanindar Cave, Israel. At this point in time we had not yet developed settlements. Shanindar 1 was part of a nomadic hunter-gatherer group.
Shanindar 1 was severely disabled. From his skeleton we can gather the following
If you believe that it’s only natural to abandon the weak he should have been left to die instead of drain the group’s resources. Someone like that would have needed assistance for his entire life. He would have slowed the group down with his limp. His sensory impairments meant he would require help to spot and defend himself from predators. His arm meant he couldn’t hunt or build.
He lived well into his 40s. For a neanderthal of that era he would be considered old. His group decided that they would help him survive not because he brought anything to the group, but because he was still a person who mattered to them. Even at the end of his life he wasn’t abandoned; he was buried with dozens of others.
my dream is to become a knight and go to rescue a princess. there is a dragon guarding the castle. she yells no men allowed! I take off my helmet. “I am no man!” the dragon let’s me in. I find the princess. she asks me what took so long. I say “the systemic oppression of women kept me from achieving the rank of knight sooner, my princess.” she laughs. I became a knight for her. she knows this because we were lovers before she was trapped in this castle. she told her dragon friend to whisk her away so that she wouldn’t have to marry a man. she left me a letter that said “become a knight and come find me my love. only then can we be wed.” this is because of the law where if you rescue a princess from a dragon castle you get to marry her. I ask “how am I supposed to find her?” I flip the letter over. it says: “I went to the castle where we first banged.” I know exactly where to go. because it’s my castle. I am the queen of the neighboring kingdom. also a knight. also sexy. we get married. we unite the kingdoms. we both carry swords at all times.
And that’s my lesbian fantasy.
A little Trevorcard NSFW.
A bit of a recreation of another sketch of them I did.
